In the kitchen, the smallest bottles often contain the most potent ingredients. That’s also how it is in kykNET’s new reality series Kokkedoortjie. All the contestants are between 10 and 14 years old, but the ten kids taking part in this series make cooking like seasoned chefs seems like a piece of cake. They’ll cook up a storm in pots and pans and create pancakes and panna cotta in a cinch.
Mari-Louis Guy, master baker and Koekedoor-judge, and chef Nic van Wyk (of Kokkedoor-fame) will have the tough job of tasting and eventually crowning the king or queen of kiddie’s cooking. The series spans 13 episodes and you can count on the same high drama that Kokkedoor and Koekedoor delivered, but this time with an extra pinch of cute in the mix.
Every Kokkedoortjie contestant is accompanied by an adult, but the big job of baking and cooking will be up to them alone. They’ll probably teach you a few tricks, and if you’ve been trying to get your kids to help out in the kitchen, this show will most definitely get them there.
