I am proudly South African and also an army veteran – both major parts of who I am and of what has shaped what and how I do what I do. I photographed my first wedding in 2005 and since then countless more. In 2013, I realised more than ever that life could be really cruel and that we need to focus on beauty until it drowns out the hurt. So I made a snap decision to leave the army and become a full-time wedding photographer – a tough decision at the time, but the best one I have ever made. Being part of celebrations and witnessing the love and connection between family and friends keep me going at the end of long days. I make it my mission to help others have the memories I can’t.
