Trouvoete is a romantic comedy by award-winning director Darryll Roodt, the man behind acclaimed films like Yesterday and Sarafina. The film is about a medical doctor, Louis van Est, who has a lot of knowledge about the human body, but is somewhat less clued up about the workings of the heart in a romantic context. Every day after work he escapes from his drab existence by surfing the net, and here he meets someone who charms and inspires him with her online persona.
On the other hand there’s Ella Gouws, a straight-talking woman who has been unlucky in love one too many times. She attempts to guard her heart by not allowing anyone too close to her. That’s until Mister Right makes his appearance – in an online chat room, of all places…
