Wild & Wragtag: New season

Jul 27, 2017

Wild & Wragtag brings the hunting grounds into your living room – or wherever it is that you watch your favourite shows. This series takes a look at the synergy between conservation, game farming and hunting.

Throughout this season, the team will visit shooting days and teach you how to fire the perfect shot on the hunting grounds. There will also be regular appearances by game guru Jokl le Roux, who knows everything there is to know about the interesting characteristics of animals and animal behaviour.

You will find out that a crocodile can also hunt on land, what a cheetah has to do with the soldiers who served in India and why the baboon is one of the most intelligent animals on the planet.

The team will also meet some of the most interesting figures in the game industry, like Dries Visser of Pure Bred Game, known for their pure black mask Zambian sable, and the Mortons who farm at Tembani. On Wild & Wragtag you’ll also get to know the story of INALA, the buffalo bull who reached the highest price ever for an animal on auction, at R168 million.

In one episode, the team will find out how quaggas are being bred in the Western Cape, more than 200 years after this species went extinct, and they will visit game auctions to show viewers how these events work.

They’ll go hunting with a variety of people, from junior hunters to women who take up guns and corporate hunting events, where colleagues hunt as a team building exercise. Bow hunters will also demonstrate this form of hunting on different terrains.

If you want to know more about the game and hunting industries, Wild & Wragtag is the show for you. There’s a new episode on ShowMax every week, so sign up now to be part of the action.
