OLD FAVOURITES AND NEW HIT SERIES ON SHOWMAX THIS OCTOBER

Oct 5, 2017

There’s a lot of fresh entertainment on ShowMax this October – from brand new episodes of popular series like Boer Soek ’n Vrou and Edik van Nantes to series premieres that’ll have you hooked in no time.

The first new KykNET series kicks off on 5 October.

Op Die Skouers van Reuse

Op die Skouers van Reuse takes a look at the lives of some of our country’s greatest sport stars and the charities that they support. This is a sport show with a big heart where you’ll see a different side to the players and athletes you admire, such as swimmer Roland Schoeman, long-distance runner Elana Meyer, sevens rugby player Branco du Preez and boxer Pierre Coetzer.

Edik van Nantes, Season 3

The third season of Edik van Nantes also starts on 5 October and in this season the brothers are cooking up a storm again. Erik and Nataniël explore all the nooks and crannies of their historical hometown and share their adventures with viewers. This time, the cooking happens in the city of Nantes, in the homes of people who live there, and offers a more modern view of life in France.

Hotel, Season 2

Fans of the mocumentary series Hotel can look forward to the second season, starting on 10 October, with a new episode added weekly. The staff of the Fransen Hotel are all up to their old tricks. The struggle to keep the substandard hotel going continues, but things become even more intriguing with new characters and love triangles complicating matters.

Ouboet en Wors

If you haven’t had your fix of laughter after your weekly episode of Hotel, you can enjoy a double dose of joy because two old favourites have merged to form a great new comedy. Ouboet en Wors brings together the characters Ouboet (from Orkney Snork Nie) and Wors (from Mollie en Wors) for some vintage South-African funny. Frank Opperman and Willie Esterhuizen inhabit these iconic characters and with ShowMax you can have a laugh at their expense from 10 October onwards.

Waterfront

For those who enjoy a bit of drama there’s Waterfront, a new series starring some of South-Africa’s most sought-after actors like Rolanda Marais, Dawid Minnaar, Stian Bam, Milan Murray, Albert Pretorius and Edwin van der Walt. It is the story of three sisters who grew up in the Cape Town Waterfront surrounded by the glamour of their father’s boat building business. A family tragedy brings them together again years after they parted ways, and viewers can look forward to an engaging experience at the hand of award-winning director Jaco Bouwer.

Boer Soek ’n Vrou, Season 10

Of course it’s not really South African entertainment if a farm isn’t featured somehow. To see that farming and love are paid their dues this October, we have new seasons of Megaboere and Boer Soek ’n Vrou. Megaboere has a new presenter in magazine editor and writer Jaco Kirsten, while Minki van der Westhuizen is back to help the farmers find love in the tenth season of Boer Soek ’n Vrou.
