Budapest: Put this city on your bucket list

May 6, 2020

Mandie Papendorf

My husband Max and I, along with three friends, decided in January 2019 that we wanted to tour Europe – more specifically countries such as Croatia that not many people talk about. And so our adventure began over the Easter weekend in Prague where we spent three nights. From there we went to Vienna by train where we spent one night. After we experienced the beautiful gardens and palaces of Vienna, we again travelled by train, this time to Budapest where we spent three nights. We then travelled by bus to Croatia where we spent the remaining seven nights of our tour. Our travels in Croatia started in Zadar, with stopovers in Zagreb, Split and Hvar, and lastly Dubrovnik, where our tour ended.

Visiting Budapest was however my favourite part of the tour. That is also the city where these amazing photographs were taken. It’s a city that hasn’t left my mind since our visit and I would gladly return any day. I catch myself daydreaming about Budapest daily, especially in these times that we currently find ourselves in. The large buildings, palaces, friendly people, Easter markets, delicious food and beer, as well as budget-friendly shops with the most beautiful scarves and little gifts for family and friends. We had the best time.

Budapest is truly a destination that belongs on your bucket list and I would most definitely recommend a visit to this city to anyone.
