Business in the Spotlight: Maxie Vermeulen Heppell Artist

Mar 24, 2021

Worldwide’s World Guide created a successful network to bring South Africans abroad in touch with each other so that you can support South African-owned businesses in their area. Every week, Worldwide selects one business from the World Guide to appear in the Spotlight. This week’s business in the spotlight is Maxie Vermeulen Heppell Artist.

In this life, we get so tangled up in the messy detail of things that we sometimes miss the beautiful constructions of time and purpose. It is only when we step away and allow some distance to clarify our vision that we truly appreciate the value of small beginnings, however messy they may seem to have been.

This is also reflected in my artistic voice – allowing the observer to find beauty and completion in the created distance of their viewpoints while at the same time drawing them in with seemingly haphazard configurations of nothingness. Challenging them to find truth when stepping back from the mess.

As an emerging artist, I am still discovering the margins of my ability and am therefore not dazed by the possibility of failure. What did not work today becomes the inspiration for tomorrow.
